Malisse, Leconte and Enqvist also confirmed for the BNP Paribas Fortis Champions

The list of participants for the BNP Paribas Fortis Champions, an official ATP Champions Tour event from 24-26 May at the David Lloyd Club in Brussels, is starting to take shape. Just weeks after John McEnroe committed to the event, Xavier Malisse, Henri Leconte and Thomas Enqvist have now confirmed their participation.

Xavier Malisse, who reached the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2002 and won the 2004 Roland Garros doubles title with Olivier Rochus, ended his very successful 16-year career in 2013. Malisse won three ATP World Tour singles titles, climbing as high as No. 19 in the ATP Rankings, and he was a regular member of Belgium’s Davis Cup team for many years.

Besides the ‘X-Man’, Henri Leconte and Thomas Enqvist will also compete in the BNP Paribas Fortis Champions. Leconte, known as an entertainer both on and off the court, won the doubles title at Roland Garros, just like Xavier Malisse. In 1984 he won alongside French compatriot Yannick Noah. In the singles event at Roland Garros in 1988, Leconte reached the final. He won nine ATP World Tour titles and reached as high as No. 5 in the ATP Rankings in 1986. Enqvist was No. 4 in the world in 1999, the year in which he played the final of the Australian Open. The Swede collected 19 ATP World Tour titles.

Besides McEnroe, Malisse, Leconte and Enqvist, three big names in women’s tennis will appear on the list of participants. Mixed doubles matches will be played in between the men’s matches on Thursday and Friday and after the final on Saturday. Three former leading ladies of Belgian tennis Kim Clijsters, Dominique Monami and Sabine Appelmans — will give their best to the excited crowds.

Set next to the Forêt de Soignes in Brussels, the David Lloyd Club makes the perfect location for this tournament. To guarantee all visitors a warm welcome, there will be a village surrounding the outdoor courts. The village is not only great for fans, but it is also an excellent opportunity for companies to meet clients and to strengthen business relations.
